Mindo offers a vast variety of outdoor activities and Mindo Garden offers a beautiful shelter at the shores of the Mindo River at the heart of the cloud forest. Here you’ll be able to wander through the cloud forest with naturalist guides and explore its depths.
Our packages allow you to select activities. It all depends on what you wish to do and how long you wish to spend with us.
OUR PACKAGES INCLUDE
-Naturalist / Bird watcher guide for all activities.
-Walks through private paths.
-Bird and medicinal plant observation.
-Small cable car crossing for 500 meters.
-Visit to the waterfall sanctuary.
-Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES
Optional activities with an additional cost:
Zip Line, tubing, butterfly farm, orchid farm, chocolate tour, biking, horseback riding, and visit the Cock of the rock’s lek.

TRANSPORTATION
Pick-up truck or car (One way): USD 60.00

You can arrive on your own transportation or with public transportation starting from the Ofelia bus terminal in the northern part of Quito. At the bus terminal you will find the “Flor del Valle” ticket points. This bus company offers periodic bus rides to Mindo that will drop you off only half a block away from Mindo’s main square. Here you can hire a pick-up truck that can take you to Mindo Garden for USD 5.00.
DAY 1
9:00 a.m.: We can pick you up from your hotel (Optional) to drive through the foothills of Quito’s northwestern region. After a 2-hour drive you will arrive to Mindo Garden.
11:00 a.m.: You will arrive to Mindo Garden where you will be greeted by our staff with local fruit juices. After this you will check in to your cabins.
1:00 p.m.: Lunch. You can try our local specialties prepared at our kitchen such as the river trout wrapped in banana leaf, or our steak served with Passion Fruit sauce.
2:30 p.m.: With our naturalist guide we will explore our private paths where you will have the opportunity of observing colorful local birds such as the Masked Trogon, and enjoy the exuberating native flora of the cloud forest. After this we suggest an additional activity such as the butterfly farm, which is close to Mindo Garden.
5:00 p.m.: Free time to use our facilities: You can play pool, board games, reed a book, or relax watching TV at our main hall.
7:00 p.m.: Dinner. Just like at lunchtime, you’ll be able to try more local dishes and enjoy a starter, main dish, dessert, and non-alcoholic drink.
DAY 2
6:00 a.m.: Early morning bird watching (optional); this is the best time of day to watch the birds in this sector. Here you will have the chance to watch Toucans, the beautiful Motmots, among other bird species.
8:00 a.m.: Breakfast. Homemade bread and jam, organic eggs, local fruit juices, and the best coffee in Mindo will recharge your energy for this new day.
9:00 a.m.: Hike towards the cable car and Nambillo waterfall. With our guide we will venture into the forest through its paths. Here we will have the chance to walk through a great bird spot, and cross through a cable car to the waterfall zone where we will be able to take an energizing dip. This excursion will last approximately 3 hours.
1:00 p.m.: Lunch.
3:00 p.m.: Hike through the areas that surround Mindo Garden. We can suggest another additional activity like going tubing through the Mindo River. This takes approximately 30 minutes.
5:00 p.m.: Free time to use our facilities: You can play pool, board games, reed a book, or relax watching TV at our main hall. If you have energy you can have another additional activity such as going to town for a chocolate tour.
7:00 p.m.: Dinner.
DAY 3
6:00 a.m.: Early morning bird watching (optional). If you wish to see something different we can change your schedule for a very special additional activity, which is visiting the Cock of the rock’s lek. This activity starts at 4:30 a.m. and here you can witness the courtship of the males showing off their bright red plumage. This activity is highly recommended for professional and amateur birdwatchers. Breakfast will be served during the excursion, and you will return at midday.
If you choose not to visit the lek, you can take the 6:00 a.m. excursion and observe other birds around Mindo Garden.
9:00 a.m.: Hike to the San Lorenzo mountain ridge. With our guide we will hike through internal paths to the ridge. This ridge is an excellent bird watching spot, and here you can have another additional activity: the zip line. Here you can zip through 13 cables and see the cloud forest from another perspective.
1:00 p.m.: Lunch.
2:00 p.m.: Return to Quito.
